Hello, I am pregnant and in the last weeks till the boy will come, 7 weeks. My ferritin rise to 3200 . Since i know it (January) i do not take any Iron chalator. After the birth i have to start as fast as possible with Exjade again. But I also want to breast- feed. My question is, is there any experiance or study about breast - feed and Iron chalator. ? By the way : sorry for my english ☺

On the Drugs.com website, it says about X-Jade that "It is not known whether deferasirox passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while you are taking Exjade." So the final advice is not to take x-jade while breast feeding.

There are no studies on human breastmilk. In animal studies however EXjade does go through into breast milk. Not surprising it is a small molecule. Best avoid. Howevermother's iron load must be considered. Possible solution breastfeed for one month to give baby the advantage of the colostrum!
