For the Doctor; A question posted by one of our dear participants:
"I am having terrible rashes/itching issue with desferal. My dose is 2 gram but due to reaction doctor asked me to start with 1 gram. But still same issue. I even tried with 0.5 gram. Tried with more dilution. The issue remains same. How can I overcome this issue? I have taken anti allergy too".

To answer the question of allergies to desferal; Dr. Perla Eleftheriou; Consultant Haematologist University College of London Hospital answers by the following:
Hydrocortisone 5 mg can be added to the desferal infusers and this can go up to 10 mg if rash /itching still persists

Thank you so much Anton for posting my query and thanks to Dr. Perla for responding
Just to clear the confusion: Hydrocortisone should be added in the infusion means if I am taking IV, I should add it in the drip?

Dear Friend;
Hydrocortisone can be taken I.V. as well by the drip with desferal. Please clear the matter with your doctor first. Please keep us updated.
Shifneez; Hydrocortisone cream works topically only, meaning it treats allergic reaction at the spot it has been applied only.
