So, I am back not with the bang but with another article. I had a rough week, in fact rough weeks. Since past two weeks, I was having bad health, body aches, low on energy. I thought it might be seasonal issue as we are coping a moody monsoon in India, despite being such positive person I still found myself going low on positivity too, and that banged my head. I was having severe headaches, bouts of vertigo and loss of appetite. After having all the tests done, I came to know that I was low on Hb. Yes! And what makes it more shocking was I had my refill of 2 pints just 12 days back and it dropped to 7 in just 12 days which was a first in many years. I don't remember when I came this low last time. So moral of this long story is sometimes, despite of having good management, we need a reality check that it's not bad to be extra cautious at times. Here, the key is understanding the signs which your body is giving. Though my body started aching a week back, I started visiting the loo more often, I was bit cranky (that only my close friends and family knew), I was a mess. Hundreds of thoughts came into my mind, my cardiac function, my kidney function, my liver tests, but I never thought of getting a Hb check. I should have got tested myself in the initial state only, after all, precaution is better than cure. No matter how good you are at managing yourself, you can never understand this body, nobody can. So, all we can do is trying to learn language which it speaks, it does give subtle alarms and all we need to do is to listen and understand them. Maximum that can happen, it could be a false alarm so what? It would anyway be a win-win situation, No? So, never misestimate your body and overestimate your efforts, you never know what's in store for you. Keep nurturing, nourishing your body, have proper vitamins and minerals. Diet is one important thing we can keep a check on. Never ignore your diet no matter how busy or healthy you are.
I know I was a fool so don't be one and get your siblings, cousins, friends and everybody in your circle get tested for thalassemia trait. After all, precaution is always better than cure.
See you soon, keep chelating keep loving and more importantly keep learning your body's language.
